🐟 1-hr guided tour at Batiquitos Lagoon

Where: 7380 Gabbiano Lane, Carlsbad, CA
Batiquitos Lagoon Reserve is a 561 acre lagoon, game sanctuary and bird estuary. Year round it is home to diverse wildlife and in the winter, it is home to a large variety of migrating birds. We will have a tour and be able to see the work the foundation is doing to preserve this area.
🏔 Mission Trails Regional Park (Oak Canyon) hike
When: Tuesday, January 28th, from 08:30 AM to 12:00 PM

The walk starts past the Old Mission Dam (a nationally registered historic landmark) and follows a streambed rimmed by coast live oaks. This area is rich in both native plants and animals. This is an easy 4-mile hike with an elevation change of 600 feet.

Help pull and remove invasive iceplant (Carpobrotus sp.) and other invasive species to enhance coastal strand habitat on the Silver Strand State Beach bayside! Ages 12 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver by their guardian). Lunch will be provided.

Love Your Wetlands Day is an opportunity to explore UC San Diego’s protected Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve in Mission Bay while also learning about the importance of coastal wetlands, the climate threats they face, and the ways local communities are working to restore and protect them.

To make Love Your Wetlands possible SDBA needs volunteers to help staff the event. They need lots of people to help before, during, and after the event.
🛶 Kayak Clean-Up at the Estuary & Tule Boat Launch

Once a year, the San Diego River Park Foundation receives special permissions and permits to put kayaks in the Estuary east of Ocean Beach. Volunteers will be able to kayak around the Estuary to clean all the accessible trash they can find.
⛱ Shore Clean-Up at the Estuary & Tule Boat Launch

Come work outdoors with like-minded members of the community to help remove thousands of pounds of trash in just three hours! Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our namesake waterway.

🥾 Sunset Cliffs Natural Park (Rocky Cliffs Trail)

This is a great spot to watch sea birds, such as pelicans, western gulls, and cormorants, glide above the ocean's surface. The stairs at the corner of Ladera Street and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard offer a breathtaking journey down the cliffs to the north end of Garbage Beach which can be explored at low tide. This is an easy 2-mile hike with an elevation change of 450 feet.
🗑 Zero Waste Meeting

Zero Waste is a subcommittee of the San Diego Chapters Conservation Committee. and is dedicated to achieving zero waste in San Diego and Imperial Counties. This group advocates forlocal ordinances, works on state and national Sierra Club zero waste policies, and maintains liaisonswith government agencies and non-government organizations.
