👩 Women in Science: Edith Purer and San Diego Salt Marshes

Kellie Uyeda, Ph.D. will give a presentation about Dr. Edith Purer and San Diego’s Salt Marshes. Dr. Purer was California’s first female ecologist and wrote a book about the plants of Silver Stand State Park. Dr. Uyeda’s talk will share more about Dr. Purer’s work in our unique wetlands.
👩🏫 The Environmental Argument Against Environmentalism

🌱 Winter Flats and 2025 Annual Seeding

Late January is the last chance to seed out annual seed for a 2025 bloom season. We’ll begin with a quick workshop of annual seed dormancy and treatments. After a little bit of science, annual seed mixes will be available for attendees to try in their own garden spaces.
🧹 Arbor Day Tree Planting and Cleanup
When: Saturday, January 25th, 2025 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Where: Otay Valley Regional Park – 400 Palm Ave, 400 Palm Ave., Chula Vista, 91911
This year, San Diego Coastkeeper will be planting trees in Otay Valley Regional Park in celebration of Arbor Day. In addition to tree planting, we will be conducting a walking cleanup through the park. This event is open to people of all ages, and park rangers will be on site to educate and lead volunteers through activities.
